Who is Eligible for Medication Assistance?
You may qualify for MAP if you:
- You live in South Carolina
- You do not have health Insurance
- Your household income meets program guidelines
Approved patients receive medications by mail at no cost. MAP provides access to more than 300 prescription medications, though controlled substances are not included in the program.

The Medication Assistance Pharmacy (MAP) makes it simple for eligible uninsured South Carolinians to receive free prescription medications. Start by submitting an application and required eligibility documents. Once approved, your healthcare provider sends prescriptions directly to Welvista. Our pharmacy team fills your prescriptions and ships them directly to your home at no cost to you.

Eligible uninsured South Carolina residents may apply through the Medication Assistance Pharmacy at Welvista. There is no fee to apply and no cost for any medications you receive.
Applications are typically processed within 2-3 weeks. Once approved you are enrolled for up to one year.

You may mail your prescriptions to 121 Greystone Blvd. Columbia, SC 29210, or your doctor may call, fax, or escribe prescriptions to our pharmacy. If you have prescriptions at another pharmacy, we can transfer them to our pharmacy for you; to do that we need the name and phone number of your current pharmacy, and the names of the medications you want transferred.
Medications are mailed directly to your home through USPS at no cost. Medications must be on our medication list and usually ship within 7 business days.
We are only able to supply medications that are on our list. Please share our medication list with your doctor to see if there are medications that may be prescribed for you.
Yes! We carry generics as well as name brand medications.
Yes! We carry many over-the-counter medications, simply have your doctor write a prescription for them. We also carry various testing supplies for diabetes patients.
You qualify if you have a limited benefit Medicaid plan (Family Planning or Health Connections Checkup). You do not qualify if you receive full Medicaid benefits.
No, Medicare is considered health coverage.

What Happens Once I’m Approved?
Once approved, you’ll be enrolled in MAP for up to one year. Your healthcare provider will send prescriptions directly to the Medication Assistance Pharmacy at Welvista, and eligible medications will be delivered to your home at no cost. Most deliveries arrive within 7 business days.

Need a Refill?
You can request refills 7 to 10 days before the refill date listed on your prescription label. Remember to let us know if your address or phone number changes, and reapply each year to continue receiving assistance.
