Free Prescription Medications for Uninsured South Carolinians

Applying for medication assistance is easy. If you are an uninsured South Carolina resident, you may qualify to receive free prescription medications through the Medication Assistance Pharmacy (MAP) at Welvista. Eligibility and Enrollment

You cannot have medical insurance

You cannot have Medicaid, Medicare, VA Health Benefits, Affordable Care Act, or Private Health Insurance.

You must live in South Carolina

You are required to provide proof of residency.

You must provide proof of household income

You must provide proof of income for you and each income-earning person in your home. This includes wages, unemployment benefits, workers’ compensation, pension, social security, disability, child support, and alimony. The total household income in your home must be at or below the Federal Guidelines below. Once You’ve Applied

The Patient Services team plays a vital role in our organization. They are tasked with processing each application swiftly and efficiently and being the first point of contact for guidance and assistance to our community members, partners and advocates. They serve as the compassionate bridge between patients in need and access to life-saving medications. The processing time for applications is 2-3 weeks.

Once You’re Enrolled

Once approved, you will be enrolled in the program for up to one year. Your doctor will need to send your prescriptions directly to Welvista, and your medications will be mailed to you via USPS from our pharmacy at no cost. Please allow 7 business days for delivery. You must re-apply every year to remain in the program.

After receiving your medications, download the RxLocal app to view your prescriptions, request refills, and securely message our pharmacy team. Let the pharmacy team know if you would like to opt in for automated notifications about prescription readiness and shipping updates.

You can refill prescriptions 7-10 days before the due date, which is listed on your prescription label (Please call for refill on xx/xx/xxxx). Be sure to update the pharmacy if your address or phone number changes.
