On Friday, August 25, Congressman James Clyburn toured CommuniCare's new administrative offices and central-fill pharmacy located in Columbia. This visit allowed the congressman to see our growth first-hand, and realize the impact we're making in his district and throughout South Carolina.
Congressman Clyburn was impressed with the new CommuniCare facility, which he said will help CommuniCare expand our efforts to provide prescription medications to uninsured South Carolinians in an effective and efficient manner.
Congressman Clyburn represents the sixth district, the counties along the I-95 corridor, containing five of the state's poorest counties and the state's lowest per capita income. The district has high rates of prostate cancer, diabetes, heart disease and strokes. Because many of those with medical needs don't have insurance and can't afford prescription medicine, Congressman Clyburn's office often refers them to CommuniCare.
"CommuniCare is a saving grace, and my office often refers constituents to this organization to get the life-saving medications they need'" Congressman Clyburn said. "I am pleased to know that CommuniCare will be able to meet those needs well into the future."
