On June 25, 2008, the South Carolina Attorney General’s office presented CommuniCare with a check in the amount of $50,000. Attorney General Henry McMaster presented the check, which was part of the settlement agreement paid to South Carolina and 28 other states in the February, 2006 Caremark Corp settlement. (Part of the $38.5 million settlement was paid to attorney generals who participated in the investigation). “The money will be put to good use, helping uninsured residents of South Carolina get the prescription medicine they need,” said CommuniCare CEO Ken Trogdon.
