Ken Trogdon

Ken Trogdon is the Chief Executive Officer of Welvista, an innovative non-profit healthcare network serving the working uninsured. Since joining Welvista in 1997 Ken has developed unparalleled partnerships with community donors, 12 pharmaceutical companies, 4,000 healthcare providers, free medical clinics, hospitals and pharmacies to supply needed medical information, treatment and medications to qualified, low-wage, uninsured citizens of South Carolina. Welvista also operates four school-based pediatric oral health care centers that provide children of limited income families within rural communities throughout the State with effective oral care services and education.

As Chief Executive Officer he has successfully lead Welvista to strong growth financially, programmatically, operationally, and publicly. Under Ken's leadership, Welvista's programs have been widely recognized as role models for other states. Welvista was recipient of South Carolina's Health Alliances Vanguard Award, chosen as one of only five Models that Work for healthcare delivery in the United States by the Department of Health and Human Services. Welvista was selected as a Best Practices Initiative by the Department of Health and Human Services, and received the Central Carolina Community Foundation's "David W. Robinson Catalyst Award" in 2005, validating Welvista as an innovative model of non-governmental healthcare intervention. Ken has played a key role in the success of Welvista delivering a program that has proven to help bridge the gap in healthcare.

In 2004, Ken was named Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a member of the Liberty Fellowship Program, Class of 2007, a statewide leadership effort sponsored by South Carolina philanthropist, Hayne Hipp. In 2006, Ken was awarded The Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest civilian honor for exceptional, dedicated service to the Palmetto State. He is actively engaged as a speaker for conferences and organizations serving the medically uninsured throughout the United States. Through Ken's vision, tireless work, and philosophy of customer service Welvista is admired for its mission and results-oriented focus in South Carolina and across the nation.

Ken is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He is married and he and his wife Christy have two daughters.
